The Practice of Prayer
There can be no greater thing accomplished in life than to learn to pray properly and effectively. We must realize the importance and power of prayer. The importance of prayer is easily understood when we come to know that everything we want in life can be received through prayer if desired according to God's will. This enables us to realize the tremendous power of prayer. Prayer will move Heaven and earth and bring to reality the promises of God in our lives. In learning to pray, one must practice prayer until he or she becomes perfected in it. It's like learning to do any other thing, practice makes perfect, and without this diligence and perseverance, it will never will be perfected. A person can learn all about prayer, but if prayer does not become a habitual practice and if one does not learn to pray in faith, those prayers will not become effectual.
Prayer is offering up those things which we desire, those things that are lawful, needful, and promised by God. Our prayers must be offered in humble confidence, knowing that we will obtain what we ask through Jesus Christ for God's glory and for the good of all. Prayer is pleading our cause in God's court. Prayer is seeking help from God in matters that are beyond our power. It is a personal appeal to a present and personal God based upon His will and Word. When we pray we should know that we are praying in cooperation with God's willingness to manifest His goodness to all those who have faith in Him and depend upon Him for help. Prayer is simply asking and receiving from God.
Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Psalm 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
How can we pray for you?
